Peace In The Storm

When The Sky Grows Dark

When The Sky Grows Dark

No matter who you are, there comes a day when the wind begins to push against your life. It may come through your marriage, your children, your health, your money, your thoughts, or a spiritual battle that seems to rise out of nowhere. One moment the water looks calm, then the clouds gather and the waves begin to beat against your boat. If that is where you are today, I have good news for you. The Lord sees you in the storm.

A Word Before The Crossing

A Word Before The Crossing

In Mark chapter 4, Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Those words came from the mouth of the Son of God. The disciples stepped into the boat with a promise already spoken over the journey. Yet while they were crossing, a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat until it began to fill. They were following Jesus, and still a storm came. That storm was no sign that they had missed God. The storm came while they were moving in His word.

When Strength Runs Low

When Strength Runs Low

These men knew the water. Several of them had lived as fishermen. They knew the smell of the sea, the pull of a rope, the weight of a wet sail, and the danger of deep water after sunset. Still, this storm shook them. Rain struck their faces, water poured into the boat, and the wind pushed hard against everything they tried to do. Their hands grew tired. Their clothes were soaked. Their hearts began to tremble.

Peace In The Same Boat

Peace In The Same Boat

Then they looked and found Jesus asleep on a pillow. Peace was resting in the same boat where fear was shouting. The disciples woke Him and cried, “Teacher, do You care that we are perishing?” Many hearts have prayed that same prayer in trouble. Lord, do You see my house? Do You see my child? Do You see this sickness? Do You see these tears? The storm can make a person feel alone, even with Jesus near.

The Voice Above The Wind

The Voice Above The Wind

Jesus arose and rebuked the wind, then spoke to the sea, “Peace, be still!” At once the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. The waves had been loud, yet His voice carried greater authority. The storm had strength, yet His word had command. What the disciples had no power to settle with their hands, Jesus settled with one word. The sea that threatened them had to bow when the Master spoke.

Hold What God Has Said

Hold What God Has Said

Friend, the wind around you may feel stronger than your strength today. Your marriage may feel strained. Your body may feel weak. Your money may feel tight. Your mind may feel weary. Your children may seem far from the place you prayed they would stand. Still, take heart. Open God’s Word. Find what He has spoken. Hold it in your heart. Speak it over your home, your body, your family, your mind, and your future.

The Other Side

The Other Side

The disciples reached the other side, just as Jesus had said. The storm never canceled His word. The wind never changed His plan. The waves never got the final say. My friend, the same Lord who stood in that boat is with you now. Lift your eyes in the middle of the storm and say, “Lord, I believe Your Word. I trust You to bring me through.” The night may be rough, and the waves may be high, yet His Word will stand, and He will never fail you.
